Approved golf carts meeting all Alabama Gulf Coast safety regulations and police department requirements may operate on roads with speed limits of 25 MPH or lower.

Important Note About Usage

Unlike some nearby coastal communities, Alabama Gulf Coast’s golf cart-friendly routes are primarily located in residential neighborhoods rather than beachfront areas. Rentals are intended for leisurely neighborhood exploration, not as a primary transportation method.

Prohibited Roads for Golf Carts

Per Alabama Gulf Coast ordinances, golf carts are strictly prohibited on the following high-speed roadways:

• Canal Road

• Perdido Beach Boulevard (Beachfront Road)

• Alabama Gulf Coast Boulevard

• Any road exceeding 25 MPH speed limits (e.g., Foley Express near The Wharf)

These major thoroughfares have speed limits of 40+ MPH and pose significant safety risks. Operating carts on these routes is both unlawful and extremely hazardous.

Safety Disclaimer

While carts may legally operate on qualifying low-speed roads, the city’s designation of approved streets does not guarantee safety. Golf carts lack advanced safety features and should be driven with caution at all times.
